Thanksgiving in the Indian Ocean for the American sailors of the toughest ocean race

Five Americans Sailing Around the World in Volvo Ocean Race Celebrate Thanksgiving at Sea (and a little Turkey jerky and the "next best thing", burrito) in Middle of the Indian Ocean.

Thanksgiving B-roll, messages & quotes from Americans Competing in Volvo Ocean Race.

As a nine-month, 39,000-mile adventure at sea, the round-the-world Volvo Ocean Race has always meant a lot of sacrifices for any participant. And sometimes, holidays away from home can be the toughest.

Onboard Team Alvimedica, the American/Turkish boat, Skipper Charlie Enright (30, Newport, RI) and three other Americans (Mark Towill, Nick Dana & Amory Ross) sailing around in the world in the triennial Volvo Ocean Race on-board Team Alvimedica, celebrated their Thanksgiving in the middle of the Indian Ocean this year on their way from Cape Town to Abu Dhabi, six weeks into the nine-month race.

Onboard Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing, it's Matt Knighton (30, Chicago, USA), the team's onboard reporter and only American onboard, who prepared a thankgiving "burrito" for his crew.
